About Us

Community National Bank was chartered in 1987, organized by a shareholder group that included Phil Eastep, Chairman, Dan Mildfelt, President and CEO, and Mike Mitchell locally. Dan Mildfelt moved to Chanute, from the Kansas City banking environment to become President and CEO of Community National Bank in 1991. The bank’s emphasis on excellence in service, strong support of local needs, superior account and lending products, and a passion for community service has been cornerstones in serving our growing customer base. In 1994, Community National expanded this philosophy to its growing market share in Allen County, building a new Banking Center in Humboldt. Expansion continued in 1995 to Girard, as CNB pursued the opportunities to build the organization.  The success in Girard led to further expansions with new Banking Centers in Frontenac and El Dorado. The Shareholders merged a sister holding company into Community Bancorp, which enabled Community National to add the highly successful First State Bank locations in Edna, Cherryvale and Neodesha as the newest Community National Banking Centers. In 2000, a new state-of-the-art Operations Center was constructed in Chanute, to coordinate the processing needs, while also expanding the network and satellite communications between all of the Banking Centers.

Throughout this tenure of growth, Community National Bank’s management, directors and employees have exemplified leadership roles and dedication to the local schools, 4-H groups, scholarships, community cultural events and other civic activities in each community that they service. The energies and financial resources from Community National Bank have oftentimes been the driving force in the success of many community activities.

During 2000, Community National began construction of two new Banking Centers in Parsons and Pittsburg. In 2001 the organization was positioned to acquire Commercial Federal’s Bank in Fredonia, which has been a natural outreach of growth from the Chanute and Neodesha markets. Because of the success in Butler County, El Dorado West was built to accommodate their customer base. With this growth, came the opportunity for building a new Banking Center in Iola as well as the acquisition of Commercial Federal’s branch to further expand in Allen County. With the strong support of our growing customer base throughout the region, we now have 21 bank facilities operating in 18 communities, which include 24 ATM machines, free to Community National Bank customers. The communities we now serve are: Chanute, Humboldt, Girard, Frontenac, El Dorado, Pittsburg, Edna, Cherryvale, Neodesha, Parsons, Burns, Fredonia, Iola, Caney, Coffeyville, Eureka, Benton and Winfield.

Community National encourages our young people to learn to save by offering the DIGGITY DOG CLUB and YOUNG INVESTORS CLUB for children and young adults. This Savings Account enables children to learn the importance of saving for the future and setting deposit goals.  Letters are sent to the kids informing them of special events and programs. The youth of today are our future adults.

For several years Community National Bank has offered a service called EasyCheck (Check Imaging). This enables the customer to receive pictures of their checks printed on 8½” by 11” sheets showing the fronts of each check / deposit slip processed that month. (Backs are also available upon request).  This will make it much easier for our customers to find the information they might need for proof of payment, tax returns, checkbook balancing, etc.

Our lending expertise ranges from bond financing to agricultural loans, commercial loans and commercial leasing to fixed rate home financing. In addition, we offer Checking Reserve, which is a line of credit used for small loans or overdraft protection.

Because we know how valuable time is to our customers, Community National Bank offers 24 Hour Telephone Access through CALL NOW BANKING. This service allows access 24 hours a day for account balance inquiries, determining transactions on your account, verifying deposits as well as other electronic funds or ATM transactions.
